I thought I knew going into today’s flow meditation where it was that I needed to put my intention. This week my body’s response to winter’s cold and damp smashed directly against practical demands of life as I worked to transform what was my sewing studio into a guest room.

Emotionally and physically demanding work that time constraints dictated could not be put off for when I was feeling more up to the task. I spent some time dancing this morning, something I love to do but had not indulged in lately and the physical release felt exhilarating.  So it seemed clear to me as I settled in to begin my meditation that it was in those parts of my body where my pain is held where my focus would be. Yet as I tried to direct my mind towards achieving the goal of pain release my awareness went to a clear and deliberate word:  respirar. It came in spanish it didn’t come in English. And as this respirar…this breathing….rose up to my attention  I saw a red glow and felt warmth flow to my body where my awareness had previously stopped.
